I just find this Gemini New Moon interesting! So, I don’t have The Good, The Bad and The Interesting to present for this Gemini New Moon. In this Moon chart we have a party of planets all lined up in the Mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. In English, this means we are moving into a new season and changes are coming. Changes are always coming you might say…well what the astrology offers us is deeper insights to what archetypes are involved. Our inner willpower, storyteller, lover, adventurer, and judge are all configured by squares and oppositions in mutable signs, which strive to see both sides to every story. There’s going to be a lot of back and forth. With this being the seed intent of the New Moon we are not on solid ground. Pushing our way forward will be less productive than looking at both sides of a situation and taking small steps from there. Adaptability is key. This isn’t the configuration for the long-term planner. Why? Once you take your initial step within your plan two new better ideas will come up or another unknown essential fact will reveal itself. This is the problem solver's month. We may not be on solid ground but if you treat this lunar month like a puzzle that needs to be playfully fiddled with then at least you’ll remain in good spirits. For this cycle, everyone stands to be challenged in their ability to adapt to change. Of course peeps more invested in Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces energy tend to be more comfortable with this type of challenge but they too will need bring their A-Game to the month in order to set an example for everyone else.
For this article, I’m exploring this Mutable Grand-Cross, Gemini New Moon via a 3-card New Moon tarot spread I designed specifically for the occasion. Below, I give details on what to expect from this Gemini Moon cycle, how to get the most out of the energy present, where it’s leading us, and lastly journal prompts to help you make the most of the first four lunar phases.
Let’s get started on ushering in the New Moon in Gemini Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 8:59pm MDT!
What’s being asked of us this time around?
XVI The Tower – We are being asked to embrace a sudden change in a structure that we find important. Funny enough one major change this New Moon is the fact that Mars has moved back into Scorpio the sign he rules. (In tarot The Tower is Mars so this is a very synchronistic card for us I was shocked when I pulled this card.) Mars is powerful in Scorpio but being retrograde hinders him. This new moon represents our desire to be empowered. Although, we understand the theoretical repercussions of this desire, due to the retrograde we are not yet in a position to fully act on our wish. You should have clues to what this change represents around May 27 when Mars first enters Scorpio. For this New Moon it’s enough to internally accept the challenge. Saying yes automatically grants you 70 percent of the power you need to succeed. Prepare yourself because June 29 Mars goes direct and it will be time to act.
How to Get the Most out of the Moon
XIX The Sun - The Sun is in Gemini a mutable sign. Gemini is about our communication, fast-talking and thinking. This is a time to be social. Mutable signs occur when the seasons are in a transition (and in this case it’s from spring to summer) so mutable signs are about dual purposes. For this Gemini New Moon we need to prepare ourselves to straddle two worlds: work and play, passion and duty. This is a time to embrace ambiguity and not try to nail all the details down. You won’t have the answers this cycle and nobody else will either so instead of seeking closure to a situation apply yourself to the process.
It’s important for the first half of this lunar cycle that we lead from our Sun’s center and that we communicate authentically. June 12th just after the 1st quarter Moon Mercury will move into Gemini greatly enhancing our ability to communicate and learn. By tapping into Mercury we can fuel our life with creativity. We can play with our process. This brings us an opportunity to consume ideas and amp up our mental dexterity. That said, be prepared to multitask and for everyone (including you) to be a bit wishy-washy. Remember it’s not about making plans it’s about exploring suggestions.
The Knight of Wands – The intent of this new moon is teach us to be confident in ourselves, what believe and what we know. The Knight in this card carries a burning staff and is moving forward in a desert landscape. We need to learn to carry OUR personal torch of focused fire. Even at night one burning staff is enough to see 10-15 feet in any direction. We are traveling in an unknown landscape so now we must trust in our own light to shine the way even if all we can confirm is the next 1 to 2 steps. Come the Full Moon we will be challenged in our ability to push ahead. If you do the work to integrate the Sun and Mercury lessons in the first two weeks of the Moon cycle you will have gained the inner strength to successfully travel on.

Digging Deeper with Lunar Phase Journal Prompts
Prompt 1 - Gemini New Moon: Pick a sudden change that’s happen in your life lately. Imagine how the 10-year old you would have handled and adapted to the change. Imagine how the 20-year old you would have adapted to the change. Now write how the current you wants to ideally handle and adapt to the change. What is the lesson in this change?
Prompt 2 - Leo Crescent Moon: It’s time to establish identity. Pick one thing you’ve learned over the course of that last four days or one challenge you’ve successfully dealt with. Now write that situation into your resume.
Prompt 3 - Virgo 1st Quarter Moon: Time to take action! What’s the next step you’re going to take in a meaningful project of yours? Explore how you will handle the outcome if that step goes as planned, if that step somehow fails or if that step yields an unexpected result.
Prompt 4 - Scorpio Gibbous Moon: More of what’s working please. Be brutally honest with yourself. What has been going right for you so far this lunar cycle? More of that please! How can you keep that going? What has not been so successful? Ask yourself is it time to problem solve or discard what’s not working so far.
